Meet us at a central pickup location in El Paso, where we’ll load up and depart at 3:00pm and begin our direct 1.5 hour journey to White Sands National Park. Upon arrival, we’ll make a restroom/dinner stop before dropping you off at one of the designated parking areas near the dunes. You’re welcome to explore on your own or join the optional Sunset Stroll led by a park ranger on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. After sunset, we’ll regroup at the van, make one final restroom and quick dinner stop, and then head back to El Paso to our original pickup point and arrive by 10:30pm. You can read more about White Sands National Park here. This trip is ideal for working professionals or families who have a 9-5 schedule and want an excursion after standard work hours.
We recommend bringing minimum extra $30 for snacks and dinner. Options available for various price ranges.
Additional Tips: We recommend bringing a towel, blanket or chair for sitting on the dunes, closed toe shoes, packed dinner, and camera for beautiful sunset pictures!
General Tips for Your Sunset Trips to White Sands National Park
Dress in layers: Weather can change quickly—mornings and evenings are cooler, while midday can be warm, especially in the desert.
Wear comfortable walking shoes: You’ll be exploring outdoor sites, trails, and town streets.
Stay hydrated: Bring a refillable water bottle and drink plenty of water throughout your trip.
Protect yourself from the sun: Use sunscreen, wear a hat and sunglasses, and seek shade when possible. Bug spray is also recommended in the forest.
Bring snacks: Some stops may have limited food options or shorter business hours, so having snacks on hand is helpful.
Charge your devices and bring a power bank: Cell service may be spotty in remote areas, and you’ll want your phone ready for photos and navigation.
Download maps or directions ahead of time: This is useful especially for locations with limited or no cell service. AllTrails is a great option for downloading hiking trails offline.
Carry cash and cards: Some local shops and restaurants may only accept one or the other.
Use restrooms during scheduled stops: Facilities can be limited, especially at outdoor locations like White Sands.
Be respectful of nature and art installations: Follow all park rules, pack out trash, and avoid climbing on protected sites.
Bring optional items: A camera, binoculars, a small daypack, and a light jacket or rain poncho can enhance your comfort and experience.
